The difference between optical fiber switch and optical fiber transceiver

The optical fiber switch is different from the optical fiber transceiver.

1, optical fiber switch is a high-speed network transmission relay device. Compared with ordinary switches, fiber optic cables are used as transmission medium. The advantages of optical fiber transmission are fast speed and strong anti-interference ability.

2, fiber optic transceiver is an Ethernet transmission medium conversion unit that interchangeages short distance twisted pair electrical signals and long distance optical signals. In many places, it is also called Fiber Converter.

3, the optical fiber switch is the connection between the high transmission rate fiber channel and the server network, the 8 fiber switch or the internal components of the SAN network, so that the whole storage network has a very wide bandwidth and provides a guarantee for the high performance data storage.

4, optical transceiver provides ultra low latency data transmission and is completely transparent to network protocols. A special ASIC chip is used to forward the data line speed. Programmable ASIC concentrates a number of functions on a chip, which has the advantages of simple design, high reliability, less power consumption and so on. It can make the equipment higher performance and lower cost.
