The Kioxia KCM61VUL3T20 is the 3.2TB base model in the CM6-V series, Kioxia's mixed-use enterprise NVMe SSD for PCIe 4.0 servers and storage systems. It uses a 2.5-inch, 15 mm U.3 form factor and 96-layer BiCS FLASH 3D TLC memory. The lower 3.2TB capacity, compared with a 3.84TB read-intensive drive, reflects extra spare flash that the drive uses to sustain heavier writing.
Kioxia rates the CM6-V at 3 drive writes per day, so this model fits workloads that write steadily rather than occasionally. Typical uses include transactional databases, virtual machine storage with frequent changes, caching and tiering layers, data warehousing and AI or analytics scratch space. At 3.2TB Kioxia lists up to 6,900 MB/s sequential read, 4,200 MB/s sequential write, 1,400,000 random read IOPS and 350,000 random write IOPS. Typical active power is 19 W, so check the power and cooling budget in dense NVMe chassis.
Unlike the single-port CD6 and CD8 data center drives, the CM6-V has a dual-port design. It runs as one x4 link in a standard server or as two x2 links in dual-controller enclosures that wire both ports for failover. Kioxia states it conforms to SFF-TA-1001 (U.3). As a generic Kioxia drive it ships without a server tray, so OEM servers need the matching carrier.

Mixed-use drives such as the CM6-V keep more flash in reserve than read-intensive models. That spare area lets the drive carry a 3 DWPD rating instead of the 1 DWPD typical of 3.84TB read-intensive drives.
No. In a standard server bay it runs as a single x4 PCIe 4.0 link. The dual x2 mode is only used in enclosures or storage controllers built for dual-port failover.
KCM61VUL3T20 is the base model without security features. Kioxia lists KCM6DVUL3T20 for SED, KCM6FVUL3T20 for FIPS SED and KCM6XVUL3T20 for Sanitize Instant Erase.
No. It is a bare Kioxia drive, so order the tray or carrier that matches your server.
