The Solidigm SBFPF2BV076T001 is the 7.68TB entry point of the D5-P5336 family, a PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD in the 2.5-inch U.2 form factor at 15mm height. It uses Solidigm's 192-layer QLC NAND, which stores four bits per cell. That gives a lower cost per terabyte than TLC drives in exchange for lower write performance and endurance. The T001 suffix marks the generic version without Opal encryption.
QLC drives suit data that is written once and read many times: object and file storage, content delivery caches, data lakes, AI training and inference datasets, backup targets and replacements for large hard-drive pools. Listed performance for this capacity is up to 6,800 MB/s sequential read and about 770,000 random 4K read IOPS, close to many TLC drives. Writes are much slower, at about 1,800 MB/s sequential and 17,900 random 4K write IOPS. Solidigm rates the 7.68TB model at 0.42 drive writes per day, or about 5.9 PB written over five years, which is ample for read-heavy tiers but not for logging, caching or OLTP.
As a U.2 NVMe drive it needs a bay wired for PCIe, either a U.2 NVMe backplane or an NVMe-capable tri-mode bay. It will not run on SAS-only or SATA-only backplanes. It ships without a carrier, so plan for the tray your server needs. Solidigm lists idle power under 5W and an MTBF of 2 million hours for the family.
Before ordering, check:
| Capacity | 7.68TB |
|---|---|
| Interface | PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe |
| Form factor | 2.5in U.2, 15mm |
| NAND | Solidigm 192-layer 3D QLC |
| Sequential read/write | 6,800 / 1,800 MB/s |
| Random 4K read/write | 770,000 / 17,900 IOPS |
| Endurance | 0.42 DWPD, 5.9 PBW (5 years) |
| Idle power | Under 5W |
| MTBF | 2 million hours |
| Encryption | No Opal (generic SKU) |
| MPN | SBFPF2BV076T001 |
All three are 7.68TB D5-P5336 U.2 drives. T001 is the generic version without Opal, TOP1 adds TCG Opal encryption, and TOF1 is the FIPS version. The letters O in TOP1 and TOF1 are part of the code and are not zeros.
It is designed for read-heavy data center use. Solidigm rates the 7.68TB D5-P5336 at 0.42 drive writes per day, about 5.9 PB over five years. Keep it on tiers where data is mostly read rather than constantly rewritten.
Reads are close to TLC drives at up to 6,800 MB/s, but writes are lower, about 1,800 MB/s sequential and 17,900 random 4K write IOPS. Pair it with a TLC tier if you have heavy writes.
Yes, if the bay supports NVMe and 15mm-tall drives. It will not work in a SAS-only or SATA-only bay.
