The Cisco Catalyst C9300-48P-E is a 48-port PoE+ access switch at the Network Essentials license tier. It is one of the most widely deployed Catalyst 9300 models in campus wiring closets, where modular uplinks and high stack bandwidth matter more than the lower price of the C9200L.
Your PoE budget depends on the power supplies. With the default PWR-C1-715WAC-P alone, Cisco lists 437W of PoE. Adding a second 715W supply raises it to 1152W, and pairing with a 1100W supply reaches 1440W. Cisco specifies two PWR-C1-1100WAC-P units, or one 1100W plus one 715W, for full PoE+ on all 48 ports. Uplinks come from a network module such as the C9300-NM-4G, NM-8X, NM-2Q or NM-2Y.
Cisco rates the switch at 256 Gbps switching (736 Gbps stacked) and 190.47 Mpps. StackWise-480 stacks up to 8 members, and StackPower lets the stack share power between members. It runs Cisco IOS XE and can be managed from the CLI, the WebUI or Cisco Catalyst Center. Three field-replaceable fans (FAN-T2=) run N+1 redundant.
Before ordering, decide which uplink module and power supplies you need and confirm what the listing includes. Cisco software licenses (Network Essentials/Advantage and Cisco DNA subscriptions) and Smart Net support generally do not transfer with resold hardware without Cisco's approval. Cisco's datasheet makes a DNA or Catalyst subscription mandatory when ordering new, so plan licensing before deployment.
