The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U, two-socket rack server from Dell's 14th generation. Refurbished units are a common pick for virtualization hosts, database nodes and dense compute racks where DDR4 memory and mature firmware matter more than the newest processor. This listing covers the 10-bay 2.5-inch chassis.
The R640 takes one or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Dell's spec sheet lists 2nd Generation CPUs with up to 28 cores each, and refurbished units are also widely sold with 1st Generation chips. There are 24 DDR4 DIMM slots for registered or load-reduced memory at up to 2933 MT/s, with a 3TB maximum. The 10-bay chassis holds 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, and with the right backplane up to eight of those bays can take NVMe SSDs. Dell also built an all-NVMe 10-bay version. Controller choices include the PERC H330, H730P and H740P RAID cards and the HBA330 for pass-through, plus an optional BOSS card with two M.2 boot SSDs.
Networking sits on a network daughter card: 4 x 1GbE, 2 x 10GbE plus 2 x 1GbE, 4 x 10GbE, or 2 x 25GbE. Up to three PCIe Gen3 slots are available, depending on the risers fitted. Hot-plug power supplies come in 495W, 750W, 1100W and 1600W ratings, and iDRAC9 handles out-of-band management.
ICT Devices quotes the exact configuration you send us: processors, memory, drives, controller, network card, power supplies, iDRAC license and rails. Before ordering, check the following.

Dell's spec sheet lists up to 8 NVMe SSDs in the 10 x 2.5in SAS/SATA chassis, or 10 NVMe drives in the all-NVMe version. NVMe support depends on the backplane and cabling in the unit, so tell us if you need it.
Dell's current spec sheet lists 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores. Refurbished R640 servers are also commonly sold with 1st Generation Xeon Scalable CPUs. Tell us the exact model you want and we will quote it.
24 DDR4 slots and a 3TB maximum with load-reduced DIMMs, per Dell. Reaching the top figures needs two processors and CPU models that support that much memory.
iDRAC9 hardware is built in. The license level (Express or Enterprise) varies by unit, so state which one you need when you ask for a quote.
