Overview
The HPE Aruba CX 6000 R8N87A is the entry point to the AOS-CX switch family. It is a 24-port Gigabit PoE switch for small offices, retail stores and branch sites that want CX management without paying for 10G uplinks.
All 24 RJ45 ports support Class 4 PoE at up to 30W, from a 370W budget. That is enough to run every port at about 15W, which covers a typical mix of phones, APs and cameras. The four uplink ports are 1G SFP, not SFP+, so plan on 1G fiber or copper SFP modules toward the core or firewall. HPE rates the switch at 56 Gbps and 41.6 Mpps.
The CX 6000 is a fully managed Layer 2 switch. HPE also lists static routing and access OSPF, ACLs and QoS. It does not stack. It runs AOS-CX and supports zero-touch provisioning, a web GUI, the CLI, the REST API, and HPE Aruba Networking Central with a Class 1 subscription. That makes it practical to deploy many identical branch switches from a central template.
The power supply is internal and fixed. Before ordering, check whether 1G uplinks are enough for your site; if you need 10G, the CX 6100 JL677A is the next step up. HPE's current configuration guide lists the B revision, R8N87B, for this model.

Frequently asked questions
Are the uplinks 10G?
No. The CX 6000 has four 1G SFP uplink ports. For 10G SFP+ uplinks, look at the CX 6100.
What is the PoE budget?
370W, with up to 30W (Class 4) on any single port.
Does it run the same OS as larger CX switches?
Yes. It runs AOS-CX and can be managed in HPE Aruba Networking Central with a Class 1 subscription.
