Overview
The HPE Aruba CX 6100 JL678A is a 24-port Gigabit switch without PoE. It is the smallest full-rack-width CX 6100 and suits small branch closets, labs and equipment rooms that connect wired endpoints which do not draw power from the switch.
It has 24 RJ45 ports at 10/100/1000 and four built-in SFP+ ports for 1G or 10G uplinks, which is plenty for a small site uplinking to a distribution switch or firewall. HPE rates it at 128 Gbps switching capacity and 95.2 Mpps forwarding. Power comes from an internal fixed supply.
Like the rest of the 6100 line, it runs AOS-CX as a fully managed Layer 2 switch. HPE also lists static routing and access OSPF, ACLs and QoS. It does not stack. You can manage it from the CLI and web GUI, use zero-touch provisioning for remote sites, automate it through the REST API, or manage it in HPE Aruba Networking Central with a Class 1 subscription. Configuration habits carry over to the 6200 and 6300 families.
Before ordering, check whether any device on the closet's ports needs PoE now or might later, such as an AP, phone or camera. If one does, the 24-port PoE version (JL677A, 370W) is the better fit. Also choose SFP+ optics that match your uplink fiber.
