Overview
The HPE Aruba CX 6000 R8N85A is a 48-port Gigabit PoE switch from the entry tier of the AOS-CX family. It is for sites that need many PoE ports at a low price per port, such as schools, retail stores and small offices with a single wiring closet.
The 48 RJ45 ports support Class 4 PoE at up to 30W per port, sharing a 370W budget. That works out to about 7.7W per port if all 48 draw at once. It suits phones and lower-power devices well. For a closet full of access points or cameras, add up the load first, and consider the 740W 48-port CX 6000 or a CX 6100/6200F model. Four 1G SFP uplinks connect to the distribution layer. HPE rates the switch at 104 Gbps and 77.3 Mpps.
The switch runs AOS-CX as a fully managed Layer 2 switch. HPE also lists static routing and access OSPF, ACLs and QoS. It does not support stacking. You can manage it with zero-touch provisioning, the web GUI, the CLI or the REST API, or in HPE Aruba Networking Central with a Class 1 subscription, which helps keep many branch switches consistent.
