Overview
The HPE Aruba CX 6100 JL677A is a 24-port PoE access switch for branch offices, retail sites and small floors where a 48-port unit would leave ports unused. It runs AOS-CX, so it can be managed alongside larger CX switches with the same tools.
All 24 RJ45 Gigabit ports supply Class 4 PoE at up to 30W, from a 370W budget. That is enough to run every port at about 15W, or about 12 ports at the full 30W, which covers the phones, APs and cameras of a typical small site. Four SFP+ ports provide 1G or 10G uplinks, and HPE rates the switch at 128 Gbps and 95.2 Mpps.
The CX 6100 is a fully managed Layer 2 switch. HPE also lists static routing and access OSPF, and support for ACLs and QoS. It does not stack. Management options are the CLI, the web GUI, zero-touch provisioning, the REST API, and HPE Aruba Networking Central with a Class 1 subscription. An optional Bluetooth adapter (S1H23A) lets you do the initial setup from the Aruba CX mobile app.
The power supply is internal and fixed, so there is no power redundancy inside the switch. If the site needs uptime through a power-supply failure, consider a UPS or a model with modular supplies. Also choose SFP+ optics that match your uplink fiber type and distance.
