Overview
The HPE Aruba CX 6300M JL660A is a 24-port multigigabit access switch. Its RJ45 ports are HPE Smart Rate ports that negotiate 100M, 1G, 2.5G or 5G over existing copper cabling. That makes it a good match for Wi-Fi 6 and 6E access points, whose uplinks can exceed 1G. Note that this is not the 1G Class 4 model: the 24-port 1GbE Class 4 6300M is a separate SKU, JL662A.
Every port supports Class 6 PoE at up to 60W, enough for high-draw APs, PTZ cameras and similar devices. HPE lists a 1440W system maximum. The usable budget depends on the power supplies, because the switch has two modular bays that ship empty according to HPE's configuration guide. One JL086A gives 370W and two give 740W. One JL087A gives 740W and two give 1440W.
Four SFP56 ports handle uplinks or stacking at 1G, 10G, 25G or 50G. HPE rates the switch at 640 Gbps and 476 Mpps. With VSF it can stack with up to nine other 6300M or 6300F switches. It runs AOS-CX with full Layer 3 routing and can be managed from HPE Aruba Networking Central with a Class 3 subscription.
Before ordering, confirm that your cabling supports the speeds you want (Cat5e or better for 2.5G and 5G), work out the PoE draw at full load, and choose power supplies to cover it. One fan tray is fitted and a second bay is available.

Is the JL660A a 1G or multigigabit switch?
Multigigabit. All 24 RJ45 ports are Smart Rate ports that run at 100M, 1G, 2.5G or 5G. The 24-port 1G Class 4 model is the JL662A.
What PoE class does it support?
Class 6, up to 60W per port. Total PoE depends on the installed power supplies, up to a 1440W system maximum.
Do I need to buy power supplies?
HPE's configuration guide lists both power supply bays as empty, so plan on JL086A, JL087A or JL670A units. Check the listing for the actual contents.
