Overview

The HPE ProLiant DL320 Gen11 is a 1U, single-socket rack server for 4th and 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. It is sold configure-to-order and suits branch offices, edge sites, web and application servers, and any role where one processor is enough and a two-socket server would be wasted. This listing starts from the 8 SFF chassis, HPE part P52766-B21.

The single socket accepts processors with up to 60 cores and 270W. Sixteen DDR5 DIMM slots give a maximum of about 2TB using 128GB RDIMMs. The chassis is an 8+2 SFF design for SAS, SATA and NVMe drives, with a choice of x1 or x4 tri-mode U.3 backplane kits. Hardware RAID comes from HPE's Gen11 controllers: the MR408i-o, MR416i-o and MR216i-o in OCP form, the MR416i-p and MR216i-p PCIe cards, and the SR932i-p.

Unlike the Network Choice DL360 and DL380, the DL320 Gen11 has two embedded 1GbE ports from a Broadcom BCM5720 controller. One OCP 3.0 slot and two full-height PCIe 5.0 x16 slots take faster network cards or other adapters. Flex Slot power supplies are offered from 500W to 1800-2200W, and iLO 6 provides remote management.

ICT Devices quotes the DL320 Gen11 to your configuration and gives today's price on request. Useful points to confirm:

  • Processor model, keeping the 270W limit in mind
  • Memory size against the 16-slot, 2TB ceiling
  • x1 or x4 backplane, depending on whether NVMe speed matters
  • Whether the two embedded 1GbE ports are enough or an OCP card is needed
  • GPU-heavy builds use a different base chassis (P61218-B21), not this one

Frequently asked questions

Does the DL320 Gen11 have built-in network ports?

Yes. HPE lists two embedded 1GbE ports on a Broadcom BCM5720 controller as standard, with OCP 3.0 and PCIe adapters available for faster links.

Can I add a second processor later?

No. The DL320 Gen11 is a single-socket server. If you expect to need two processors, look at the DL360 Gen11 or DL380 Gen11.

How much memory does it support?

16 DDR5 slots. HPE's QuickSpecs give the maximum as 2.04TB with sixteen 128GB RDIMMs.

Which CTO chassis are available?

HPE lists P52765-B21 for 4 LFF, P52766-B21 for 8 SFF, P52767-B21 for 12 LFF and P61218-B21 for GPU-dense builds.
